Who is Funky M?
Funky M was born in Poland, but is now based in Redditch, UK. His beginnings with house music date back to the early 2000’s. Initially, he was fascinated by the work of DJ Tonka, Daft Punk, David Guetta and various climates of disco, funky, soul.
Over time he started to be interested in mixing. From 2009 to 2011 he was a resident of local clubs where he experimented in every genre of house music.
Currently he creates sets in different genres, although as he says he prefers deep or tech house. Creator of weekly series Positive Vibes which is played on YouTube every Wednesday. He is also a guest performer on the local radio station Main Radio UK.

Five Questions
What was your first experience with electronic music? What made you fall in love with it?
I heard house music for the first time when I was maybe 11 years old. It was DJ Tonka. It was not something spectacular, because what can you know about music when you are 11 years old? I fell in love if you could put it that at 15 when I heard “David Guetta – Just A Little More Love (Wally Lopez Remix)” It was something!
Who are some of the DJs and producers you admire the most?
There are definitely many of them, to name one specific. Once upon a time, in my youth, it was the Swedish House Mafia, then Laidback Luke, now I am inspired by James Hype for his mixing technique.
When it comes to the underground, for sure Mark Knight, Solardo, Camelphat, MK, Sonny Fodera, Friend Within, Franky Rizardo, Maya Jane Coles etc.
Recently, I have also been inspired by the works of John Summit, GUZ and Biscits.
How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
In creating music, I follow emotions. I would like the music I create to be created with passion. This is something amazing for me. Hearing music many times, I have chills on my body, and this is how I would like to create music for others. To make them feel the same as me.
What has been your biggest success in music so far?
The biggest ones are still ahead of me. I think so. So far, I have managed to reach third place on the national radio for the best set.
Tell us a bit about your track on Come Play with Us 2. What’s the story behind it? Did you try anything new with this track? What makes it special to you?
As I mentioned before, I follow my emotions every time. In this track, I focused on simplicity when it comes to technique. There aren’t too many effects here. Simplicity – that was the key to success with this track. This makes it unique.
